Day Eight – Carlisle to Slaidburn

What an Adventure, (without the ginger beer)

A big day today. Hard work from beginning to end. We set off from Carlisle at 0800 and weaved our way through valleys inbetween the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. The planning department failed to notice the 580 metre hill that took up the last 10 miles. With the weather moving in and the light fading it didn't look like we were going to make it. We did eventually get there just after 2100. The massive hill did give us some stunning views as we went up. The sun was shining in the valley, the broken clouds were red with the sun on one side and rain was moving over the hills on the other. Still bloody hurt though!

Tip of the day

Take your foot out of the cycle clips before coming to a standstill. That's Chuck 3, the others 0.

Note to Fabio Capello.

When preparing for a game in Eastern Europe, bring the squad to Slaidburn. It's freezing cold and the lack of mobile coverage will prevent WAG distractions.

Tip of the day two

When stepping out of shower take care on the wet floor. That's Chuck 4, the others nil.

Editors Note

Aaron told a joke today, which was his funniest ever. But we can't publish it as he may want to use it again and we can't remember it any way.
