Hot, so hot. At time of writing it’s 40c in Redon Way too hot for cycling but we had to find out which budget hotel Chuck had booked us into. The previous days booking (now known as the shed) gave us a swimming pool, bar and kitchen facilities as well. Shwenn’s effort has given us 2 beds, no air con and a view out the window of some bricks. Viva Le Shed!!!
We took our time today with a bimbling ride along the canal toe path which gave us some shade for parts of the day. The recorded distance was 64km, however, Chuck forget to start the recorder (again) due to his focus on the differences between RAM, ROM, Hard drive and the witchcraft that is the Cloud.
Note to self “aaaahhhhhh, clouds. How I miss clouds!”
So we think we did 69km (well that’s the number that Chuck shouted out at 02:30 this morning)
Anyway, the day was a good one. We found a few places to stop for refreshments on the way and generally enjoined the journey.
Our previous French lessons have had mixed success. We have checked in and out of accommodation, with a combination of school boy French and dramatic miming, but there has also been some confusion. Our 10:04 drinks break (see Instagram) saw us stuttering through broken French with another tourist for 5 mins before we noticed that his car had UK plates and he was actually a South African. This revelation only occurred after we had all agreed the TABAC was open, with combination of German, Spanish and Africans. He said thank you and got back in his car to get so far away from us as possible.
We rolled into Redon and after a shower and a short interrogation from the the bar man we hit the traditional Breton pub ‘The O’Shannon’.
The French skills worked well as we ordered ‘trios punch de maison (mostly rum) and ‘trois La Chouffe’. I was going to pay but Aaron stepped in when the barmaid asked ‘c’est tout?’ and said ‘no, not two. we want to pay for everything’.
NOTE TO DUOLINGO - Please can you update to cover the Plymouth accent!
What a time to be alive!
